Serve as District's dam safety expert and geotechnical specialist and leader in geotechnical design and construction of earth embankments and levees providing technical leadership and guidance in dam and levee safety studies, dam seepage evaluations, seismic evaluations, and dam decommissioning.
Provides geotechnical expertise during emergency response activities for the Corps and external agencies as requested.
Geotechnical experience with buildings; bridges; earth and rockfill dams, concrete dams; reservoirs, channels, levees, offshore containment dikes and breakwaters, roads, underground structures, airfield pavements; and other infrastructure projects.
Experience with managing and performing field investigations and analyses of earth and rockfill dams under seismic loading; developing criteria, analyses and design of deep foundations for unusual structures with complex subsurface conditions or seismic loadings; peer reviews and preparation of plans, specifications, and designs; evaluation of complex groundwater systems and advisor in respect to appropriate construction dewatering; providing technical advice and problem solving expertise for earthfill and foundation construction.
