We are a close knit, family oriented company in the Monterey Bay, providing service mainly to Santa Cruz, Monterey, and San Benito counties.  

The position of licensed Engineering Geologist requires the following experience:

  • Working with coastal environments
  • Karst hazards and risk analysis
  • Geologic hazard mapping
  • Geologic hazard analysis for planning and environmental impact analyses
  • Coastal flooding and erosion analysis
  • Landslide stability analysis, slope instrumentation and landslide repair
  • Forensic studies and expert witness testimony for landslide issues
  • Fault hazard and fault activity studies
  • Probabilistic seismic and spectral hazards analysis

Job duties include the ability to:

  • Work independently, or with team members including engineers, field and laboratory technicians.
  • Interact with client, contractors and/or testing personnel to resolve field issues
  • Identify and implement operational improvements to increase efficiency and reduce costs
  • Evaluating, selecting, and applying standard geological methods, techniques, procedures, and criteria during the execution of geological services.
  • Geologic mentoring, managing and supervision of staff, when applicable.
  • Participation in meeting the firm’s business development and budgeting goals
  • Overseeing quality control, report review, and management of geological operations
  • Supervision of staff geologists on projects in which you were the primary geologist involved in preparation of the report. You will likely also provide supervision on other projects as well. 
  • Field work including supervising mapping, trenching, large diameter drilling of test borings, on-site meetings and geological consultation for projects in the construction phase, as required.
  • Geological work including analyses, preparation of geological maps, cross sections and other ancillary figures.
  • Project management, including management of the work effort to completion within established budgets and schedules; maintenance of client relations.
  • Prepare project related communications including geology reports, project notes, letters to clients, third party correspondence, transmittals, etc.
  • Prepare and submit written and verbal communication, including daily field reports where warranted and draft geological letters/reports.
  • Marketing support, including proposal preparation with scope, schedule and budget as well as new client development.
  • Work closely with other professional and/or field staff to provide technical supervision and direction as necessary on a variety of projects.
  • Attend safety meetings, and wear safety gear as required by company policy and/or job site regulations.
  • Other work assignments as directed by the company Principal Engineer(s), or Project Geotechnical/Civil Engineer.
  • Attend and participate in company-sponsored training and/or seminar activities to develop and maintain professional development and licensure.
  • Other duties normally performed by an Engineering Geologist employed by a geotechnical engineering firm.
