Field Technician

Duco Engineering is seeking to add a part-time field technician to our team based out of Chino, California. Specifically, we are looking for a hard-working, diligent team player to perform field observation and compaction testing for various residential and commercial development projects throughout Southern California, with the potential to expand to full-time work depending on qualifications and workload.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or higher
• Proficient with basic math
• Class C Drivers License in good standing
• Able to lift 50 lbs and use various hand-held tools (e.g. sledge hammer)
• Preferred experience with geotechnical laboratory and field work (job training will be provided regardless of experience)
• Proficient oral and written communication skills
• Comfortable with working outdoors, sometimes in rugged conditions
• Recent engineering grads or students available during our business hours are encouraged

Primary Job Responsibilities

• Perform field compaction testing for earthwork and fill placement at the direction of the project engineer
• Obtain and deliver bulk samples to the testing laboratory
• Occasionally assist with preliminary geotechnical site work, including sampling of test borings
• Occasionally assist laboratory staff with processing and testing of samples
• Communicate project progress and status with the project engineer

Expected Work Hours

• 25-30 hours a week to start, with the possibility of full-time work depending on project demands
• Business hours are 7:30a-3:30p, M-F
