Primary Responsibilities
- Develop geotechnical recommendations, plans, and technical specifications for design and construction of private and public projects.
- Perform geotechnical analysis and design of shallow and deep foundation systems, ground improvement systems, earth-retaining structures, slopes, landslide mitigation solutions, and more.
- Assess static and dynamic slope stability, ground settlement and deformation, and soil liquefaction using various geotechnical software applications.
- Perform static and dynamic numerical modeling using finite-element and finite-difference methods as implemented in PLAXIS, FLAC, and other software applications.
- Perform site-specific seismic-hazard and ground-response analyses.
- Assist with the planning and execution of field investigations including logging borings and test pits, collecting samples, performing field tests, and observing and assisting with cone penetration and geophysical testing.
- Develop laboratory testing plans, review laboratory test results, and develop representative soil properties for geotechnical analyses and design.
- Prepare detailed geotechnical reports, letters, plans, and other documents.
- Observe construction of foundations, ground improvement, shoring, grading operations, and other geotechnical construction.
- Complete other field, analytical, and project administrative tasks with direction and support from peers and leadership.
- Learn increasingly more complex, non-routine tasks with review and oversight from senior staff.
Requirements

All Candidate Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree – Required (M.S. degree or Ph.D. in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering - Preferred)
- Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Products. Numerical modeling, seismic hazard analysis, and GIS experience are a plus.
- Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic, and diverse environment
- Ability to work and succeed as a team also while being resourceful when working alone in the field.
- Construction appropriate vehicle for driving onto job sites
