Essential Functions

Work Level requires responsible judgement on simple to complex projects under the direction of the principal engineer and collaboration with other senior professionals. Prepares proposals, project scopes and budgets. Interfaces directly with Clients, subconsultants, contractors and regulatory agencies. Plans and manages/carries out field investigations, including geologic mapping, assessment of storm damage, landslides and other emergency response tasks. Gathers, organizes and analyses field data. Performs geologic research and interpretation of field data. Prepares simple to complex technical reports, supports site characterizations, field monitoring, soil testing and remedial investigations. Spends time in the field supervising and/or performing field investigations, field logging, instrumentation monitoring, procedures, remedial observation and monitoring. Work is typically collaborative; however, field work can be independent. Mentors and trains staff in geologic and geotechnical practices, both in the field and in the office (i.e. report writing, analysis, geologic interpretation, etc.).

Must have experience with engineering geological and geotechnical investigations for some of the following project types:

  • Landslide and slope stability evaluation and mitigation
  • Geologic hazard evaluations
  • Schools, hospitals, DSA projects
  • Fault investigations
  • Development projects
  • Public works and infrastructure

Education: BS or MS in Geology (MS preferred)

Experience:  5 to 10 years

Registration:  PG or CEG

Physical Demands: This position splits time between a professional office environment (65-70%, hybrid permitted) and field time (30-35%).  Requires ability to lift 20 pound samples or equipment.

Expected Hours of Work: Generally Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm
